Chapter Development Toolbox

Getting And Keeping Members Is Hard Work

In this area you will find tips and programs on how to make your chapter grow, and more importantly, keep the members that you bring in active.
The Order Of The Eastern Star is a beautiful Order that we go through a lot of hard work to keep as lovely as it is. Additionally, you really must think
a lot of a potential member's character, standing in society, and fitness for membership to recommend them. At a meeting of a chapter somewhere
in the world, we voted to bring them into the Order based on your recommendation. It is a sad moment, after all of that examination and degree work,
completed by a trained, polished and loving slate of officers, to see your recommended friends fall by the wayside and not be active members of the
chapter, or worse, end up out for NPD. We need to do something to stop this from happening, and this, and other sections in this toolbox, should help.

Chapter Development, A How To Guide

A Sample
5 year plan
At Grand Session last year, Grand Chapter handed up an immeasurable gift, and it is up to us to decide how to utilize it. For years our membership
efforts have been hindered by having to use, as our membership pool, only the direct bloodline of Master Masons. There were many of our friends and
business associates that believe in the same moral and high standards as we do that were denied membership simply because they were not directly
related to a Master Mason. The Grand Chapter has heard your concerns and now has made membership available with a Masonic sponsor. Now that
this has been made available to us, how do we make the best use of this opportunity? This section will give you some tools, ideas, and examples on
how to conduct a successful membership campaign. Let me state here, however, that this is not the only path to success, and at any time you have a
way that works for your chapter, please use it, and please take the time to outline it and send it to me at secbyte@njoes.com. Soon you will see it
appear in this section as well. The Chapter Development Project

Be A Mentor

A Mentor Program
More important than getting members is how to keep them, and how to get them to love the idea to be an active member of the chapter.
Have you ever been a mentor? In this section we are going to show you how to be a more effective one, and, in turn, be a better sister to all.

Activities Activities Activities

Okay you have all the members you need. You are in the category of "Now that I have my new members and they are here to stay, what am I going to
do with them?" Not a bad category to be in, I assure you. A LOT of chapters wish they could be in your shoes right now. This section is to teach you
have to design programs to keep these new sisters interested, and, in the process, how to deal with the sisters you already have that are not active.
In addition to this you can find some important reading will be found on the Upcoming Worthy Matron page.
